Back with the next podcast of U.K. "pub rock" ,trying to zoom in on the year 1976 ,as this was episode #76 of the W.G.O.D. radio programs.Originally broadcast July 29,1999 ,with pints of Guinness and li'l Eddie.Thanks for most all of the music, from an old friend,Leo Johnson ,who owns tons of original U.K. singles and LPs ,which he procured on a few trips there ,in 1976 thru 1980.Also thanks to Joel and Ashey ,who also provided a couple things played here.This was broadcast before the advent of (at least for me) home computers ,so access to all this music was not as easy as it is now.
There are still a few more tapes to come, in this series ,sporting even more U.K. punk,pub,ska,reggae,dub,oi! ,etc. from back in the days of old. I will attempt to create the atmosphere of a dingy ,run-down ,english pub ,that has the best beer ,and plays the best music. Drink up!!

The pub rock series of episodes stopped at #79. Shows 80,81,and 82 ,were standard programming,but on this episode ,#83 ,I brought back the U.K. punks ,for another go ,this time doing cover versions of some of their favorite/least favorite songs ,from bands that came before them. A lot of punks covered the beatles for some reason ,and I think the drunken,live, Sham 69 version of "With A Little Help From My Friends",is tops ,on that list ,and also the Damned with ,"Help" (Thanks Captain!) .There is a set of covers by some of the Sluggisha Tapes stable , with only a Fall cover (By Ephedrine Symphony) taking up with the U.K. versions ,the rest are ,well look below and read the tracklist! Yet another rare split band/split label release ,available as listed below ,at the Sluggisha webstore as well as thru the Lady Anthropophagus imprint.. Dylan takes some old,unreleased Bloodponies tracks ,and brings it on! Yobel Weenel have never sounded better ,the samples are otherworldly ,a zombie band to watch in the future.This is music that has not been currently classified,and is not able to be labelled,at least not with words that we have on earth. An unreleased album recorded in 2011,and finally released to this blog.The art ,and the music were collecting dust for over a year,awaiting release on another label,which fell thru ,so here you have it!Also the hard copy is included if you order the Yobel Weenel/Bloodponies split (see below) A great set of instrumentals ,bass,guitar,keys,drums ,made by a 48 ,14,and 11 year old. Truly unclassifiable ,except to say,Zombie rock!This trio is slated to play St.Pete Noisefest 6 ,next year sometime.Let's hope that happens ,for the good of all noise-kind.This is like their 5th or 6th release,I think. The latest from ZATH,who are currently at work on their third Xmas release! This album was titled by a ZATH freak from Germany ,Morris Vollmann. Great cover versions of My Dog Popper,Rancid Vat ,and Lefty Frizell! Plus all the fun tardcore that ZATH always displays on each release.This is the first time that Food did not draw the art for the cover.I actually took pictures of this statue near where I live,because I always liked it ,and i just realized why ,when I was taking these photos.It resembles one of Food's artistic creations ,chiseled in stone!Food did the front cover work ,while I did the back side,in more ways than one!ha ha! Great tunes about the upcoming election ,and the candidates,as well as other topical ,and not so topical,subjects. If anyone is interested in purchasing any of the ZATH cds ,they are all available for $4 apiece ,or I can strike a deal with you ,If you wanna invest in the full set of discs!This is the "new wave" in music ,right now! That is correct ,all year in the making ,with 47 bands from around the world ,paying tribute on the 30th anniversary of this great compilation !! $7.00 will get one sent to your home! Food  and I did compiled all the songs and bands ,for this ,our 2nd release on our WHEELCHAIR FULL OF SLUGGISHA label ,the first release is a 7" e.p. with 16 bands ,all covering the same song , "2012" ,by one of Food's one-off bands, Dumb Audio Dynamite ,and there were only 200 0f those made as well! For an extra $3 ,add this almost sold out gem to your order ,for a grand total of $10.00!! Special thanks goes out to James Von Springspinnen ,for mastering the songs ,and to Dan Hartman for the absolutely beautiful art work!!
