17 years ago i made this W.G.O.D. G O Dcast. Tape number 50 was elusive in it's appearance.when i got to number 49 ,I wanted to wait for number 50 ,for a special occasion which never really surfaced.I even had a friend (Ron Bohn in Atlanta,Georgia ,ex-patriate of the Ft. Myers scene) name his band ,"GOD50" .which was an honor ,but 49 carried on thru fractions and decimals (ie: 49 and 16/17ths ,49 and 17/18ths or 49.25,49.26,49.27 ..etc. and so on) until I met the girl who was to become my wife. I decided to then do W.G.O.D. 50 because i felt a change in my life about to happen,and figured it was as good of an occasion as any to let loose on number 50! Since the broadcast is from 1997 ,I play stuff that was current at that time,usually reflected in my recent purchases.I throw in some classics and oldies for good measure ,and there is the obligatory SLUGGISHA artists set ,and those great bits by Doug Shannon. This goes out to my wife,Annette ,Doug Shannon,Ralph Tarantino,Vance Burdge,Jay Counce,Mike Brophy,Joel Rizzo,Tony Rizzo,Chris Parfitt ,Jake Joyce ,Joe Willa ,John Keane ,Bob Suren ,Ashey MacDonald ,Jeff McDonald ,Rich Deckard,and John Marion.And anyone i forgot ,and those who just enjoy my podcasts. I am posting this special episode 50 to remind all of you that one month from now G O D will be turning 50 years old!! On June 27th ,I turn 50 ,5-0 ,book 'em Danno ,I'm fiddy! Ed J. is my name ,but I've been known as :G.O.D. ,Sexboy,Satan Peabody,Eddie Machete,MoshEddie,Ed Wood,Mix Master Toilet Wig, and dozens of other names. I've played in hundreds of bands and solo projects since i was 15 . I wanted to make a compilation ,picking 50 of my favorite bands I've been in,but at first pick ,the total was 64 (the year i was born) ,I tried to pick some songs to remove from the list,but could only find maybe 2,so i decided to go ahaead and rack up to 100 bands.That pick ended up at 124 bands ,and once again ,I was hard pressed to find any material i wanted to delete,so I tried again ,for the magical 150 bands,and ended up at 151 !! Almost 8 and a half hours of me ,doing all styles of music. Sluggisha Tapes was spawned from my 1990 band CAT MACHINE ,with my friends Tony & Joel Rizzo and Chris Parfitt.i started a mail-order cassette catalog ,so the world could be exposed to our Ft. Myers ,Florida scene.In 2008 ,i started this blog,and filled it with most of what was listed in my catalog.Some bands lasted from the 90's to the present,and some only did one song,or one tape,as that was as long as the inspiration for that project lasted.Some bands did multiple releases ,while others had a small out put,sometimes only one song.I put the bands in alphabetical order,rather than chronologically. Iplanned on doing a huge post ,and writing a little about each band,but found out I had not enough time to make such an elaborate posting.If anyone out there wants to know more,or wishes to hear the full release of the bands on this compilation ,feel free to ask me.Download this and you will be greatly rewarded with some of the best music written over the past 35 years!!

Picking up where The Phantom Third left off, we find Tony Rizzo (founding member of The Mighty Cat Machine, and veteran of countless Sluggisha bands) in Chicago, where he answers an ad for a band to share the bill at a local bar, and gets selected based on the decade old demos of TP3.
Hustling to get a band together, he recruits co-workers Alex Insco and Jason Sneed, on drums and bass respectively. Crash course in learning a sets' worth of songs.
After that one gig, the rhythm section decided it wasn't their cup of tea...despite the fact that other gigs were on the horizon. SO, he brought in Jamie Kallend (who could often be spotted outside of gigs, scouring the gutter for cigarette butts) on bass, and Jason Dolan took over the drum stool. (having never really played in a BAND, before)
On the eve of a gig set to open for Mugen Hoso, from Tokyo, Jamie says he has class, and we should just not take the gig, if we can't all be there. Tony and Jason say to hell with that nonsense, and played the show as a POWERDUO, and stayed that way, playing several shows in and around Chicago, til Jason moved to New Mexico.
TGT became totally cohesive, and after one failed attempt at recruiting a bassist (he played well, but annoyed the HELL out of them), never looked back. Sadly, the best recordings they had are trapped on an mp3 player that refuses to respond to, or recognize ANY computer. Also, the display on it got jacked up, so hard to even pinpoint where the best material is.
Known to cover REM (mainly Monster-era deep cuts), Adam & the Ants,Stooges, and AC/DC (once had a full bar crowd shouting the OI! OI! OI! part on 'TNT'!!!)
Also culled tracks from several Sluggisha acts, like Myopia, OrangeClawHammer, and Boneshaker.
Always recorded live, whether to cassette, phone, or MP3--The Golden Thrown were loose, loud, raw and ROCK. or, as Tony dubbed it: dirtypopartpunkfuzzrock

That's right! The Sluggisha Tapes label is 25 years old today!! I started out as a mail order catalog in 1990,thru 1997 ,then moved operations to the Sluggisha blogspot in 2008 (our 7th birthday on the web is today ,too!!),uploading almost the full catalog ,for free downloads! After a mediafire fight a few years back the blog was deleted,but is slowly coming back to life (thanks to James Von Springspinnen!).Any links with the archive.org links are valid. The mediafire links are all dead! But ,back to the subject at hand! Please wish us a happy 25th anniversary ,and stay tuned for a special 25th anniversary online release,featuring some of the best moments from the past 25 years!!
